Commitment To Diversity Awards

Nominations for the 13th Annual Commitment to Diversity Awards (C2D) are now being accepted.

The Commitment to Diversity Awards honor faculty, staff, administrators, and students who have significantly contributed to diversity and unity at Georgetown University. The awards recognize these outstanding Georgetown members regardless of their race, ethnicity, or year at Georgetown.Awards are presented during Hoya Saxa Weekend's Diaspora showcase, an evening celebration that showcases Georgetown's talents and honors those committed to diversity with current students, prospective students, and nominees. The Student of Color Alliance and the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access is proud to present the following categories for recognition:

  • The Arts: This award recognizes a Georgetown University student or group of students who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity through excellence in the arts (fine arts, performing arts, etc.)
  • Faculty: This award recognizes a Georgetown University faculty member who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity through his or her teaching or research throughout the school year.
  • Staff/Administrator: This award recognizes a Georgetown University staff or administrator who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity through his or her actions or involvement on campus throughout the school year.
  • Outstanding Program: This award recognizes a Georgetown University program that demonstrated a commitment to diversity through its promotion of diversity and/or diversity education.
  • Outstanding Organization: This award recognizes a Georgetown University student organization that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to diversity through their events or involvement on campus throughout the 2013-2014 school year.
  • Outstanding Underclass Student: This award recognizes a Georgetown University freshman, sophomore, or junior who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to diversity through his or her service on campus and diversity outreach.
  • Outstanding Senior: This award recognizes a Georgetown University senior who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity throughout his or her career at Georgetown through his or her actions and involvement on campus.
  • Terrance Davis Spirit Award: This award recognizes a Georgetown University student who is full of energy and who empowers and uplifts other students, even in the face of adversity, in the spirit of Terrance Davis. This student may not be an obvious campus leader, but he or she is a constant, positive, motivating force, transcending barriers and bridging communities.

The 2014 Commitment to Diversity Awards will be presented during the spring semester. Please join us as we recognize the nominees and enjoy Diaspora, a cultural showcase featuring Georgetown student musical, dance, and theatrical performances.
