Community Scholars Program COVID-19 Response

Statement on Virtual Community Scholars Program for Summer 2020

Congratulations again on being admitted to Georgetown Class of 2024 and being selected to take  part in the Community Scholars Program, a nationally recognized program that supports first-generation college students.  The Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) would like to welcome you to the Hilltop and the Community Scholars Program (CSP). While we are excited about you joining the CSP family, Georgetown remains committed to keeping all its members – faculty, students, and staff – healthy and safe.  As a result, the CSP summer experience will be held within a virtual environment this summer. Please note that we are also creating an in-person experience for when in-person classes and activities resume on campus.

One thing you’ll learn about us is that we are transparent and want to be honest and open with you as to where we are in each stage of the process. Staff, faculty, and senior leaders are hard at work planning for the summer and finding ways to ensure that you receive the full experience of what it means to be in a community of scholars. Our hope is that we will have an in-person experience at some point before or during the academic year, but should the pandemic prevent us from doing so, please know that we committed to ensuring that your transition and success at Georgetown is one in which you thrive. If you have any questions or concerns throughout this process, do not hesitate to reach out. We are ready and available to be supportive of you along all parts of your journey at Georgetown. Hoya Saxa!
