Hoya Saxa Weekend

About

Each spring, the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) hosts Hoya Saxa Weekend in partnership with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Hoya Saxa Weekend is a chance for accepted applicants who may have less exposure to college than their peers to experience campus life, meet current students, and have important questions answered before making their college decision. CMEA is excited to bring potential Georgetown students to campus in a celebration of what the University has to offer.

Hoya Saxa Weekend is also run in conjunction with the Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program (GAAP). Check out the Georgetown Admissions Ambassador Program (GAAP) website to learn more.  Participants will be able to enjoy all the highlights of the GAAP program as well as immerse themselves in the Georgetown community, something that one can only get from living with current Hoyas and experiencing life on the Hilltop.

Requirements & Eligibility

Unfortunately, we can only financially accommodate admitted students who are able to participate in the full program from arrival on the afternoon it begins to the departure on the afternoon it ends. Each Hoya Saxa Weekend requires participation in program activities that can range from: opportunities to meet current students, a reception with faculty and staff, a cultural showcase with special performances by Georgetown students, a poetry event, diversity dialogue discussion, an insider’s tour of our Nation’s Capital, and a closing banquet with alumni.

Hoya Saxa Weekend wants to ensure that students who are invited are not restricted by a financial barrier. For this reason, we are offering a select amount of need-based scholarships for non-local Hoya Saxa attendees in order to assist them financially. Options for support may include: Airplane tickets, bus/train tickets, housing with a current undergraduate student, and potential hotel stays. Limited housing is available for individuals to stay during Hoya Saxa Weekend.
